Abstract: The aim of this study is to explore the implementation of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) through the whole school approach lens at green schools in Turkey and Sweden. Three green schools from Turkey and Sweden were selected as a case study. Interviews were conducted with different subject groups of teachers, and also headmasters, in order to understand different aspects of the whole school approach and to reveal similarities and differences in two contexts. Green schools have a potential to transform education through adopting the whole school approach to ESD. At the end of this study, some preliminary results will be shared, and enablers and inhibitors of implementing the whole school approach to ESD will be presented.
